Suction Point
This is the suction point. We drill a 3½" hole through the concrete floor. A HEPA
vacuum is used to collect dust while we drill.
|

Exhaust Pipe Inserted Into Suction Point
3" PVC schedule 40 pipe is inserted in the suction point. A coupling is used to
support the pipe. Caulk is used to seal the penetration airtight.
|

Suction Point Pipe With U-Tube
A vacuum monitor (u-tube) is attached to the suction point pipe. The u-tube monitors
the vacuum created by the radon fan.
|

U-Tube
The initial readings of the u-tube are marked to allow owner to monitor the system. If
the settings change our phone number is clearly posted to call us for service.
|

Secondary Suction Point
This home has a secondary suction point in the crawl space. The 3" main suction
pipe is attached. All pipes are labeled as "Radon Reduction System".
|

Pipe Exiting the Home
The radon pipe exits the home (into the garage or outside) through the rim joist. Pipe
will run between the floor joists.
|

Exterior Fan Installation
Here is our fan installed on the outside rear corner of the home. The fan has our
label on it and the on/off switch is located to the right of the fan.
|

Exterior Exhaust Pipe - PVC
The exhaust 3" PVC schedule 40 pipe will run up along the outside of the home to
the highest eave. PVC pipe is a better insulator of noise and the system will be less
likely to freeze in the winter.
|

Exhaust Pipe Going Around Soffit - PVC
Our exterior pipe will go around the soffit and exhaust above the highest eave.
|

Exterior Exhaust Pipe - Aluminum Downspout
We can use 3" X 4" aluminum downspout as the exterior exhaust pipe. We will
match your current downspout color. This option is an additional charge. Aluminum
downspout is noisier and the system has a better chance of freezing in the winter.
|

Exhaust Pipe Going Around Soffit - Aluminum Downspout
Our exterior exhaust pipe will go around the soffit and exhaust above the highest
eave.
|

Pipe Going Into Garage
If we locate the radon fan in the attic, it is usually placed in the attic of the
garage. The exhaust pipe exits the basement through the rim joist, runs up along the
garage wall and into the garage attic.
|

Fire Collars
We install a fire collar whenever our exhaust pipe penetrates a fire wall.
|

Interior Fan Installation
Here is our radon fan installed in the attic of the garage. The fan has our label on
it and the on/off switch is located on the 2 X 4 below and to the right of the fan.
|

Exhaust Pipe Exiting Roof
Our exhaust pipe will exit the garage roof and exhaust above the highest eave of the
home. Roof flashing will be installed.
|

Seal Floor Cracks and Wall/Floor Joints
We will seal floor cracks and wall/floor joints using latex and/or silicone gray
caulk.
|

Sealing the Sump Pit
Here is Elliott sealing a sump pit.
|

Sealed Sump Pit
Here is a sealed sump pit. It will have a view port to allow viewing of conditions
inside the pit. Our label indicates that the seal is part of our radon system.
|

Sealed Sump Pit with Battery Backup
Here is a sealed sump pit with a battery backup sump pump. It will have a view port to
allow viewing conditions inside the pit. Our label indicates that the seal is part of our
radon system.
|

Clean Up
When our work is complete we will leave the site as clean or cleaner than when we
arrived.
